I always felt like I’ve had the same dream as long as I can remember. Now I feel incredibly lucky to be living it…
I grew up in the Northern Brazilian state of Pernambuco, raised by my aunt and grandmother. Before I was ten, I had decided on my path – I wanted to work as a model and see the world. My parents had a difficult time understanding at the beginning, but soon enough they realized my commitment remained solid, and I was allowed to literally fly.
I had faith. My aunt had faith in me too. She took good care of me, guiding me in the right direction. She would not let me have a normal childhood worrying that I would might get hurt. At times, I felt like my freedom was taken away – but deep inside, I knew it was for a special reason.
I was raised religious and my faith stays with me today. Like my aunt guided me as a child, I believe there is special force up above, watching us and driving us in the right direction. I believe that faith and determination drove me to where I am today and will drive me to where I need to be tomorrow.
In the early days of my career, young and alone in the city, I quickly realized I needed to find a hobby – something that would evolve my creativity and keep me occupied. I took to the other side of cameras and started photographing my own images – people, places, things – always looking at the world through my Leica lens. That goes with me everywhere. I do miss my country every now and then, but today I can say that I’m comfortable living around the world.
Leaving my country when I was only 15 years old was not easy – but I knew it was the most amazing thing ever to happen to me. I saw that big opportunity, grabbed it and ran with it like there was no tomorrow.
The years have flown by. I have grown. I am happy, married, inspired, and most of all excited to share a bit of my journey – my love for photography, travel, and life here with you. Writing is a new adventure all to itself, so I hope the words and images on this blog will make for some good stories. I’m loving life and having fun, and I hope you’ll be entertained too 😉
